AIRFLOW® and Guided Biofilm Therapy
At Dental Spa Putney we are proud to use AIRFLOW® and Guided Biofilm Therapy as part of the dental hygiene treatments that we offer. It is the latest and most efficient innovation in dental hygiene.
- Guided Biofilm Therapy uses a harmless dye to visually mark any plaque on teeth, which is then efficiently eliminated using the AIRFLOW® handpiece.
- The AIRFLOW® handpiece, originating from Switzerland, introduces a controlled, high-pressure combination of warm water, air and a fine powder onto teeth surfaces and hard to reach areas, such as between teeth and beneath gum margins. This process effectively dislodges and eliminates food particles and plaque, as well as helping remove discoloration and stains. It cleans teeth swiftly, thoroughly and comfortably.

Prevention is Better than Cure
Dental hygienists are registered dental professionals who help patients maintain their oral health by preventing and treating periodontal (gum) disease and promoting good oral health practice. They carry out treatment direct to patients or under prescription from a dentist.
You are able to access dental hygiene care without the need to visit a dentist first.
Our mission at the Dental Spa is to inform and encourage all our patients to look after their teeth because we know that healthy teeth and gums are a vital part of our wellbeing.
A regular hygienist appointment is a great way to prevent dental problems arising. Our highly experienced hygienists can help and advise you on an overall strategy of good dental care. When led by your own efforts at home this should prevent most dental diseases from ever occurring.
Six monthly visits are usually sufficient but for some more frequent appointments are needed. We can advise on what is right for you.
Our hygiene appointments include information on the following:
- The right toothbrush for you, plus brushing techniques and tips;
- Flossing and interdental brushing techniques
- Products and techniques for cleaning implants, bridges, braces, dentures and other restorations
- Care for teeth after oral surgery
- Rinses and mouth-washing
- Tips for fresh breath
- Dietary advice to protect your teeth
What are the aims of our dental hygienists?
- Education in oral hygiene
Working alongside our dentist, our dental hygienists strive to prevent and treat gum disease by assessing plaque control and professionally cleaning your teeth. Most importantly they will give you advice on how to improve your daily routine and recommend the best ways to keep your teeth and mouth clean at home to prevent oral disease. - Stain removal
Cosmetic stain removal of external dietary staining on teeth surfaces for a healthier and brighter smile. We have the latest Airflow technology available for stain removal. - Monitoring and Maintaining your Oral Health
Keeping your smile looking good requires ongoing preventative care. Regular visits to the dental hygienist are an essential part of maintaining your oral health. Clinical studies have shown that gum disease has been linked to other health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and dementia, so looking after your gums can play a part in your general health too.
Kids Toothbrushing Station
We like to encourage our young patients to find brushing their teeth fun, with our bright and colourful Tooth Brushing Station. You’re never too young to start looking after your teeth and early good habits set you up for a life of sound oral health.
